We focus on empowering African Muslim Youth from disadvantaged & underprivileged areas by providing full boarding, lodging, schooling, taleem, tarbiyah, maths tutoring and extracurricular activities till Grade 10, thereafter sending them to a technical college.

Education

The organisation hosts awareness campaigns at various schools to educate learners on the following topics:

  • Anti-bullying
  • Energy saving tips
  • Study and exams skills
  • Water conservation
  • Personal Hygiene
  • Aids awareness
  • Substance abuse and alcohol abuse

Tutoring

Qualified Xhosa, Maths, English and Afrikaans teachers offer extra classes to the students to ensure they excel academically . Transport to and from the tutor sessions are made. The organisation has worked with 266 students in this program.

Our parent organisation Youth of Ubuntu was established in 2012.

Youth of Ubuntu is an Islamic faith based organisation situated in Kruisrivier, Kariega (Uitenhage) in the Eastern Cape. Alhamdulillah, through the mercy of Allah we have managed to secure a hectare of 18 hectare, 6km from (Uitenhage) Kariega.

Empowerment

Sewing Classes

Students undergo a basic sewing course facilitated at an elderly lady’s home which in turn empowers her by offering her services.

Computer Classes

Y.O.U facilitates and offers basic computer skills training.

Drive For Life Campaign

The basic skill of driving might seem simple for the affluent but for the underprivileged it is a huge accomplishment due to financial constraints. Through this campaign the organisation offers the youth the opportunity to learn how to drive and by providing the finances to make it possible to achieve a drivers permit/license.

Ladies Islamic Classes

There are many reverts and other ladies who are keen to learn the basic Islamic education. Classes are held twice a week, 45 ladies attend and 3 teachers are appointed for this purpose. Classes are held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Revert class beginner class and advance is held.

Another Youth of Ubuntu initiative is the Atta ibn Abi Rabah orphanage, based in Fikila Village in Zomba, Malawi.

Sports & Recreation

Sports are an excellent tool for discipline. Youth of Ubuntu develop all sporting codes. Potential candidates are sorted through inter class tournaments at regional schools. Thereafter developmental training takes place at the Youth of Ubuntu Academy and club.
